Current projects

Long-term projects

The Archive collaborates with The British Grotowski Project (2006–2009), conducted by Prof. Paul Allain of the University of Kent in Canterbury (United Kingdom). The aim of its research is to examine the influence of Jerzy Grotowski on the theatre in Great Britain, as well as the propagation of knowledge about his work (see www.britishgrotowski.co.uk). The Archive’s support of this project involves making materials from its collection available, as well as conducting preliminary archival research, and providing factual advice and administrative support.

The archive co-operates closely, within a network of partner archives, with its corresponding departments in Odin Teatret in Holstebro (Denmark), the Centre of Performance Research in Aberystwyth (Wales), and with those of several other institutions.

Documentary films

The Institute has recently assisted with the preparation of the following films:
  • A documentary dedicated to Maja Komorowska, by Krystyna Piaseczna, TVP Lodz for TVP 2
  • A documentary dedicated to the visit of Odin Teatret to the Grotowski Institute in May 2007, by Elzbieta Sitek, TVP Wroclaw

Exhibitions

Um teatro sem teatro in Museu d’Art Contemporani in Barcelona The Archive made available a part of its collection, including materials on The Constant Prince, for the exhibition Un teatre sense teatre at the Museu d’Art Contemporani in Barcelona (25 May – 11 September 2007, see www.macba.es), which was subsequently moved to the Museu Bernardo in Lisbon as Um teatro sem teatro (16 November 2007 – 17 February 2008). There are plans for some materials from the Archive’s collection concerning the Laboratory Theatre to be used at an exhibition at the Centre Pompidou in Paris later in 2008.
