Practical Information

Application

Anyone interested in participation in the work sessions is kindly requested to send us an application form before the given deadlines. In the event that your application is accepted but you must withdraw from participation, please inform us as soon as possible so that we can make the necessary arrangements.  



Language

Sessions are led in Polish, or in English with Polish translation (optional).



Venues

The main site of the Grotowski Institute is located in the very heart of Wroclaw, in the Przejscie Zelaznicze, an alleyway in the centre of the old town Market Square (Polish: Rynek), where the Laboratory Theatre operatd from 1965–84 and where Jerzy Grotowski worked from 1965–1982. The world-renowned performances of Akropolis, The Constant Prince and Apocalypsis cum figuris were performed here.

From the airport, you can either take a taxi (approx. 50 PLN) to the Market Square, or take city bus number 406 to the city centre, getting off at the last stop, the Main Railway Station (Dworzec Glowny). The bus journey takes approximately 30–40 minutes.

From the train or bus stations you can take trams number 2, 9 or 17 and get off at GALERIA DOMINIKANSKA tram stop. Continue on foot in the direction of the Market Square.

Some workshops are held at the forest base of the Grotowski Institute in Brzezinka, where Jerzy Grotowski worked during paratheatrrical and Theatre of Sources projects in the years 1972–1982. Transportation, accommodation and meals are provided by the Institute. 



Archive

During the work sessions in Wroclaw, you are welcome to visit the Archive of the Institute, which contains resources such as films (performances, documentaries), books, theatre journals and documents concerning the activities of Jerzy Grotowski and the Laboratory Theatre, as well as of those of other 20th century theatre artists. 



Accommodation

Accommodation and meals are provided by us only for workshops taking place in the forest base of the Institute, in Brzezinka. During  work sessions at the main site of the Institute (Rynek-Ratusz 27), accommodation and meals are at the expense of the participants.

Fees

Having received our confirmation of participation after a successful application, participants must pay the relevant fee into the following account: SWIFT: WBKPPLPP, IBAN: PL 29 1090 2398 0000 0001 1026 5168, Instytut im. Jerzego Grotowskiego, Bank Zachodni WBK S.A., ul. Rynek 9/11, 50-950 Wroclaw, Poland. Payment should be accompanied with the note ‘For the work session led by «leader’s name»’.

The full fee must be paid a week prior to work meetings, two weeks before the start of work sessions and three weeks before the start of the Atelier. Please also send us a copy of the receipt for the payment by e-mail, post or fax.

If payment is not received by the given deadline, this will be treated as a withdrawal from participation.
This procedure is necessary in order to allow sufficient time to inform people from the waiting list about the possibility of taking part in the session.
